Killing my legs to give my Ass a ride

On August 2, 2010 I start a bicycling trip with an unknown end-point. I know the general compass direction I will pedal; west to east. I'm starting in Neah Bay WA. Shen will follow as my sag wagon at least across the Olympic Peninsula and across Whidbey Island. We will sight-see between bicycle segments of about 25 or 30 miles twice per day.
One of my goals is to raise money for Writers @ Work a 501 c (3) that works to mint great writing.
Another goal is a need to achieve something intensely personal, something I haven't been told to do, something I'm not expected to do, and something that is out of the ordinary for me, outside of my comfort zone. I don't know how far I will get. I might punk after a few days!
I plan to return home for a few days after segment one (Olympic Peninsula). I have to make a living after all. Then I fly back to Seattle, bus up to the place I store my bicycle and continue east. After a week or two I will find another place to store my equipment, catch a Greyhound to the closest airport so I can fly home for another week or so. I cannot and do not want be gone full time. I need to be with my family, to see friends, to sleep in my own bed instead of in a tent, to use the mental energy I expect to gain--by expending physical energy--in my relationships, my writing, my art. All have lagged because of my preoccupation with the daily crap that comes along with way to much regularity.

My last goal is to build up my legs and hips even more than my daily bicycling, exercise, spinning, etc have done so far, so I can get both hips replaced in November.
